This is Why I'd Rather Go to Hell...

Apparently those wacky baptists are making headlines again (via City Pages Blotter)

Sunday school teacher dumped for being female

The First Baptist Church of Watertown, New York, dismissed Mary Lambert on August 9 with a letter explaining that the church had adopted an interpretation that prohibits women from teaching men. She had taught there for 54 years.

I highly recommend reading this whole story due to it's absolute absurdity...

Frankly, I don't even feel the need to rant about this because the guy is so obviously delusional that the rediculousness of the story speaks for itself. It's a testament to church leaders picking and choosing which passages of the bible it wants to intrepret literally in order to suit their needs. Seriously, I'm waiting for the day when some rednecked pastor decides that men can have multiple wives and public stoning for working on Sundays comes back into fashion. Jesus Christ...

Sandra- why is it always men that seem to be so fanatical against women? If we were that way, we'd be called bitches (even though I don't mind the term that much)

Amera- Sadly, this is indicitive of alot of the Baptist religion (note: I don't think Baptists are bad people, I just don't care for their politics)

First time visitor here ...totally absurd some of the things any and all people can come up with sometimes. I admit though I was too lazy to read the whole thing lol.
